Hello and welcome rugby league enthusiasts,
I have been involved in the game of rugby league since the late 1960s, and it was while I was undergoing treatment for throatcancer in early 2014 that I decided to write ‘More than the Foley Shield’.
Writing about the game I love during this difficult period of my life served as a positive way to spend my time during treatment and recovery as I have always had a genuine passion for the game of rugby league, its history and characters. After having written five books about North Queensland rugby league, my wife Carmel and I decided to produce League Queensland, a magazine promoting the game of rugby league at all levels; not only spreading the word of the game but the good people involved in the game throughout the state, from Thursday Island to the New South Wales border.
There are 403 rugby league clubs throughout Queensland and the goal of our enthusiastic team of freelance writers and myself, is to shine the light on all regional football bringing to our readers stories that may not have seen before in both print and digital
format. My older brother Simon Price brings many years of experience as a journalist to League Queensland in his editing role for the magazine.
The aim of League Queensland is to treat all things rugby league with respect and to cover the game and the history of the game in great detail, and not only focus on the NRL and the big end of town. We also believe that there is a need for a hard copy magazine
that relates the good things about the game to all ages.
League Queensland covers every competition from Stanthorpe to Thursday Island including Origin, International Rugby League and the NRL. The History of the Game is also very important to us and in every issue we take our readers back down memory lane
to a time when the game built the reputation as the ‘Greatest Game of All”.
Our small team is in full swing. Remember, if you have any interesting rugby league stories or photos from your hometown we’d love to see them – please email them firstname.lastname@example.org
We hope you come along for the ride and enjoy our stories as we bring them to you.
The latest from league queensland
